The Need for a Transformation

Research from The Standish Group as highlighted in the chart below, offers evidence that the success rate of large projects is extremely low. Large projects have been at best challenged (38 %) in their success, and at worst failing (52 %), at a combined lack-of-success rate of approximately ninety percent (90%) for over two decades.  Yet, arguably, those involved in the initiation and management of projects tend to rely on the same processes and approaches while in many ways expecting a different result

Project size is measured by the labor component, with a small project being defined as one with a labor component of 2 million dollars or less

Further, and over the period of 30+ years that the Standish Group has been tracking projects, the ten percent (10%) success rate has stayed fairly constant. Of course, there are many research firms that have published success or failure rates and one could debate their assumptions or measurement techniques, but, there is little doubt that large projects fail far too often and it is time something is done to create a catalyst for change.  As for small projects, they are 76 per cent successful in being on time and on budget, but recent data shows they do not actually provide significant net value to the Customer that paid for the project!
Technology should be an enabler to allow a business to be more successful. Information Technology is a part of the services industry, it should be providing a service to the business. There should be no Information Technology (IT) Projects, only business projects with IT Components.
The project is deemed a success if the product produced by the project creates significant net value for the organization after the project is completed.    Our goal is to enable our Customer's to succeed in their marketplace.  We are looking to shake things up, both in the Information Technology industry and in business.  We seek transformation and innovation as a means to an end: improving the business of our customers and making it easier for our customer's customer to do business with them.
Our teams have been successfully leading large Application Development and Business Transformation projects for many years. The success has not been measured just by being on time, on budget and with high quality, but by delivering true business value as a result of the products created by these projects.
Head Office for Anderson & Associates is located on the lower level of the Anderson House. We welcome the opportunity to work together and partner on changing the IT industry. Together we can be the drivers for success, and help business projects succeed using smartly designed IT systems and concepts.
